NZIER submission on the Overseas Investment Amendment Bill

NZIER recently made a submission to the Finance and Expenditure Select Committee on proposed changes to the Overseas Investment Act to ban foreign buyers of existing New Zealand homes.

We oppose the Bill mainly because of its complete lack of empirical analysis, and because of the potential unintended consequences that have not been explored to date.
