Mieke joined NZIER in January 2019. In her previous role Mieke led the transport forecasting team for three years prior to joining NZIER. In this role she generated vehicle sales, net migration, and tourism forecasts on a quarterly basis.
Mieke has written extensively about migration, freight demand, and technological trends affecting the transport sector. She has a strong client focus and is driven to provide clients with the best set of tools to support confident decision making.
Mieke regularly provides commentary to the media and has been quoted in NBR, the NZ Herald, Stuff, Autofile, and interest.co.nz. She has also interviewed for RNZ, Newstalk ZB, and RadioLive.

The Pharmacy Council asked NZIER to review the case for moving to one pharmacy regulator. This is a topical issue as the draft Therapeutics Bill and recent memorandum of understanding propose enhanced information sharing but stop short of recommending moving to a single regulator. Several other countries have single regulators.
