Michael Bealing

Senior Economist


Michael specialises in cost-benefit analysis and transport infrastructure and policy evaluation.

Michael joined NZIER in January 2013 following five years as economist at the Ministry of Transport. He has worked on many transport-policy and infrastructure projects spanning all forms of transport.

Michael is also interested the drivers of economic development, including the relationship between economic development, geography and social outcomes.

Michael is passionate about supporting good decision-making through robust, pragmatic and independent analysis.
