Regional economies - shape, performance and drivers, NZIER working paper 2014/3

12 July 2014

This paper highlights the similarities and differences in regional economies, the drivers of past performance, and how that performance is shared in the community (GDP versus household income, for example). It warns future social and demographic trends – such as continued urbanisation and ageing populations – will favour complex, urban centres to the detriment of regional communities.
