Adrian Katz

Senior Economist

Adrian is a senior economist with over five years of experience advising public and private sector organisations in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He applies rigorous analysis and critical thinking to assess government intervention and regulation.

Adrian specialises in using cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the economic and social impacts of government policies and projects, ensuring that decisions are informed by robust economic reasoning. His work focuses on long-term challenges such as population ageing, climate change, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence.

Before joining NZIER in 2023, Adrian completed a MPhil in Economic Research at the University of Cambridge. He previously worked in EY London’s Economic Advisory team, where he delivered projects across the energy and transport sectors.
