Overview
Qing joined NZIER in August 2010. He has many years' experience undertaking economic research and providing economic advice across the public and private sectors in New Zealand, United Kingdom and China. Qing specialises in applied economics, industry economics, and econometrics. His experience includes competition and regulation analysis, economic growth, business performance and innovation and management practices, and household and consumer behaviour.
Prior to joining NZIER, Qing spent 5 years working as a Senior Economist for the Commerce Commission where he provided economic analysis and recommendations on competition and regulation policy, problems, and cases. Before moving to New Zealand, Qing worked as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Business Research, Cambridge University. Qing has also been a certified senior statistician in China.
